Michael T. Chulak

Providing Mediation Services Since 1998

 

Born in Los Angeles, Michael Chulak obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University at Los Angeles and a Juris Doctor from Ventura-Santa Barbara College of Law. Michael owned his own law firm from 1998 to 2020. He became a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) and general contractor in 1979. Michael became a real estate broker in 1971. Michael Chulak has been a real estate, homeowner association, and real estate financing instructor at six California colleges including UCLA.

Michael Chulak has provided expert witness and consulting services to over one hundred law firms and has testified as an expert witness in property management matters, premises liability matters, real estate matters, and mortgage lending matters more than 150 times over the last thirty years.

Michael Chulak formerly served as President and CEO of Union America Mortgage and Equity Trust (UMET), a New York Stock Exchange listed Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) that owned and managed properties in nineteen states. Properties included regional and neighborhood shopping centers, high-rise and garden office buildings, medical office buildings, apartment communities, hotels and motels, high-rise condominium buildings, and mini-storage facilities. In addition, Michael previously served as Senior Vice President of Long Beach Savings where he was responsible for loan originations, loan underwriting. real estate appraisals, loan closings-escrows, construction lending, joint ventures, and the apartment construction division.

From 2002 to 2007, Michael Chulak was the owner and Publisher of the Conejo Valley Examiner (CVE). The Conejo Valley Examiner was a monthly, local news newspaper Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Thousand Oaks, Oak Park, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, and North Ranch.

Michael Chulak has written legal columns for several newspapers and has hosted a radio talk show on KVTA AM 1520 and KRLA AM 840 known as On the Law with Attorney Michael Chulak. Michael Chulak has been providing mediation services since 1998.
